Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer and Ticket Sale Confirmed for Tomorrow

Disney has officially announced that a new full trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will premiere tomorrow evening, with tickets going on sale right after. Considering Star Wars is the hottest franchise around, Lucasfilm has been rather slight in their marketing. A teaser trailer was unveiled at Star Wars Celebration in April and we got a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel at D23 in July, but otherwise most information has come from Force Friday II and other merchandise. But a new trailer?s coming. Per the release strategy for Rogue One, some expected one in the middle of summer, but it appears that The Last Jedi will be following fellow Saga film The Force Awakens and dropping its lone full trailer in October. This has been suspected for a while thanks to various leaked reports, but now it?s confirmed.

Per Disney, the new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will debut during Monday Night Football on ESPN tomorrow (Monday, October 9) during the halftime of the NFL game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears in Chicago. The game starts at 5:15 p.m. PST/8:15 p.m. EST, so you can expect the trailer some time around 7pm PST/10pm EST. It?s also been announced that tickets will be available worldwide straight after the broadcast. A short teaser has been revealed to promote the release.

As already mentioned, this release strategy is what many expected as it lines up with The Force Awakens; even this day-before announcement style matches up with how they handled Episode VII. There, however, we got the official poster too, something many are surely holding out for. Let?s just hope that one aspect of The Force Awakens isn?t repeated and Fandango?s servers don?t crash when tickets go on sale.

The teaser is obviously a big point of interest, giving us a few more clips of Rey?s lightsaber training under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker. Aside from showing off how physical Ridley?s character has become, it also gives a further taste of the visual flair that director Rian Johnson is adding to his entry in the franchise.

This would suggest a heavy Rey focus like much of the marketing so far, although the trailer is sure to also give a taste of the First Order/Resistance fight and, hopefully, a better look at some of the new characters: Benicio del Toro?s DJ, Laura Dern?s Holdo and Kelly Marie Tran?s Rose. Not long until we find out.
