Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D: One Character Who We'll See More Of In Season 5

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to return later in the 2017-2018 TV season, once its time slot opens up again after the end of Inhumans. Now we know that there's one particular S.H.I.E.L.D. character who we'll get to see more of when the show finally returns to the airwaves for Season 5. Natalia Cordova-Buckley has been promoted to series regular status for the upcoming fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. More Yo-Yo is on the way.

Natalia Cordova-Buckley made her Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debut back in the spring premiere of Season 3, and viewers were introduced to the television version of the Marvel comics character Slingshot, also known as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez.

She's an Inhuman who gained the ability to travel at superspeed for the length of a heartbeat before snapping back to where she began, which earned her the nickname "Yo-Yo" courtesy of Mack. She was incorporated into the action more and more in Season 4, and she had a key role in bringing Mack back to the real world by the end of Season 4. Cordova-Buckley's promotion to series regular means that Yo-Yo won't be going anywhere any time soon.

Of course, Yo-Yo was with the other agents in the Season 4 finale when they were taken away in the mysterious cliffhanger that ended with at least one of the group in space, so there was no saying if we'd get much of her when S.H.I.E.L.D. finally returned. Fans of Yo-Yo no longer have to worry that the cliffhanger will result in less of the character.

All things considered, it's not too huge of a shock that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wants more of Natalia Cordova-Buckley on the small screen. She has become a fan-favorite on the show, and she starred in her own digital series called "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Slingshot" in 2016.

The digital series won two Webby awards and scored a nomination for the 2017 Emmy in the category of Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series. Fans have clearly responded positively to the character, and it bodes well for Season 5 that she'll likely have a more prominent role.

Yo-Yo isn't the only character we'll see more of in Season 5. Nick Blood will reprise his role as Lance Hunter for the new season, which is a big deal for fans after he departed for a spinoff that never happened back in Season 3. Even the Kree might be back. For a show that almost wasn't renewed for a new season, there's a lot to look forward to.

A premiere date for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 hasn't yet been announced, so be sure to stay tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest in TV news. If you're dying for Inhuman action ahead of the return of Daisy and Yo-Yo on S.H.I.E.L.D.
