How Jessica Chastain Feels About Playing Beverly In IT 2

After the surprise smash hit that was Andy Muschietti's IT, the audience's eyes officially turned to the prospect of casting the adult versions of Derry's Losers Club for the sequel. And as luck would have it, fan casting for the role of Beverly Marsh has brought up two fantastic prospects: Amy Adams and Jessica Chastain. In the case of the latter candidate, this is a pretty good match, considering Chastain had this to say about her possible participation in IT: Chapter 2:

Well, I love Andy and Barbara. I worked with them on Andy's directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so...Listen, of course, I want to work...they're my friends. They're like my family. Anything that they're doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.

So for those of you who want Jessica Chastain to step up against Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the modern day story of IT: Chapter 2, you just might get your wish. Between Chastain's willingness to take part in the project and her history with the Muschiettis as the lead in the Guillermo del Toro-produced Mama, the only factors that really seem to stand in the way of this becoming a reality are scheduling and the fact that no formal offer has been submitted at this time.

This news will probably please young Sophia Lillis, as she had previously admitted to CinemaBlend's own Eric Eisenberg that she would cast Jessica Chastain as the older version of her performance as Beverly. Which makes for two prime reasons why any bookmakers looking to see where the action is on IT: Chapter 2's casting will want to start watching the bets on Chastain's candidacy. Of course, this doesn't make for a done deal when it comes to Beverly's adult fate, but it's nice to see Jessica Chastain telling Screen Rant that she's all in, should the call come through.

If the dream casting of the young IT star is anything to stand by, then not only could we see Jessica Chastain's Bev on our screens when IT: Chapter 2 hits theaters in 2019, we'd also see her hypothetically playing against Christian Bale and Chris Pratt, as her respective/would-be love interests Bill Denbrough and Ben Hascomb. Should the casting gods aim for such an outcome, Bill Skarsgard's Pennywise is going to be in for quite a fight, as there will be three comic movie veterans gunning for him in that trio alone.

IT will be on Digital HD on November 21, with the UHD, Blu-ray and DVD releases following on December 5.
